Announcing plans to bring out “Meta Verified” for creators, Facebook and Instagram’s parent firm Meta has joined the world of social media sites that offer paid verification. The function will be a paid membership service that enables artists to authenticate their accounts using official identification and obtain a blue badge.
Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Meta, announced on February 19 that this feature will allow users direct access to customer service and an additional layer of impersonation security against accounts posing as them.
Zuckerberg provided all cost, schedule, and feature-related information pertaining to the new functionality for Meta products – Instagram and Facebook – in a new announcement article released on the Meta Broadcast channel.
On the web or iOS, Meta Confirmed begins at $11.99 or $14.99 per month, respectively, for creators. This week, the new service will make its premiere in Australia and New Zealand before expanding to other countries.
It is unknown if the “Meta Verified” subscription service is accessible to Android users. It would take a little longer for Android users to access the paid membership service.
Simply put, any Instagram or Facebook content producer can buy the blue badge and authenticate their account by paying a monthly fee. The paid subscription service will help internet behemoth Meta make more money, much like Twitter Blue did.
